Timber look is a stamped overlay finished by hand. Plank mats give the grain and the board joints; the colour work is then done individually, plank by plank, so the boards vary the way real timber does instead of repeating a single flat brown.
It goes where timber decking fails: alfresco areas that sit in weather, pool surrounds where boards would grey and splinter, and entries where termites and rot are a permanent consideration. There is nothing to oil and nothing to replace.
It is the most labour-intensive finish we lay, and the one where the difference between a good crew and a cheap quote is most obvious in the finished surface.

If your job falls into that category we will say so at the quote and put up the finish that does suit it, rather than selling you the one you asked about.
Looking after it
Treat it as a stamped finish: hose regularly, low-pressure clean occasionally, keep the sealer current. Light tones stay cooler underfoot, which is why we specify them around pools even when a darker board colour is requested.

Does it get hot underfoot?
Lighter colours stay cooler. Around pools we keep the tone light for exactly this reason.
Can it go on a driveway?
We do not recommend it. Vehicle traffic across a stamped plank texture wears the high points unevenly — keep it to patios, alfresco and pool surrounds.
Can I see it before committing?
Yes. Samples come to the quote, and we can usually point you at a job in your suburb to drive past.
How often will it need re-sealing?
Every three to five years in full sun and around five to seven under cover. The sealer is the wearing layer and re-coating it is a fraction of the cost of a new finish.
