Concrete cutting

In short

We wet-cut concrete for control and expansion joints, penetrations, trenches and clean removal lines, with slurry contained and removed. On decorative jobs, joints are set out to suit the finish, because a joint in the wrong place shows in the pattern for the life of the surface. Brisbane, Ipswich and South East Queensland.

Detail

Concrete cutting in South East Queensland

Saw cutting for joints, penetrations, trenches and clean removal lines — wet cut, with the slurry controlled.

Cutting is how a slab gets told where to crack, where a pipe goes through, and where the removal stops. We cut control and expansion joints on new pours, open trenches for plumbing and conduit, cut penetrations for pits and downpipes, and score clean edges before a section comes out.

All cutting is wet cut with slurry contained and removed. On residential jobs that matters as much as the cut itself — nobody wants grey run-off through the garden beds or across a pool deck.

Where cutting is part of a resurfacing job, joints get set out to suit the finish. Stencil and tile patterns are laid out from the joint lines, so a joint in the wrong place shows up in the pattern for the life of the surface.

  • Control and expansion joint cutting on new and existing slabs
  • Penetrations for pits, pipes, conduit and downpipes
  • Trench and removal cuts to clean, straight lines
  • Wet cutting with slurry containment and removal
  • Joint layout coordinated with the decorative finish

Photographed on our own jobs.

Every photo on this site is a slab we prepared and finished ourselves. No stock library, no supplier brochures.

Method

Four days, in the same order, every job.

Preparation is most of the work and all of the warranty. The decorative part is the last day.

01 — Grind and test

Diamond grind back to sound concrete, then moisture and bond test. If the slab fails, you get told before you pay for an overlay that will lift.

02 — Repair and prime

Cracks cut, filled and bridged. Falls corrected so water leaves the slab instead of sitting on it. Primer coat the same day.

03 — Lay the finish

Overlay, stencil, aggregate or flake, laid to the build-up quoted. One crew, no subcontracted finishers.

04 — Seal and cure

Two coats of UV-stable sealer. Foot traffic at 24 hours, vehicles at 72 on most finishes.

Questions

The questions we get asked

How deep can you cut?

Standard road saws handle typical residential and light commercial slabs in a single pass. Deeper or heavily reinforced sections are quoted per job.

Will cutting mark the surrounding surface?

Wet cutting leaves slurry, which we contain and wash off. Adjacent decorative surfaces are protected before the saw starts.

Which suburbs do you cover?

Brisbane, Ipswich, Logan, Redlands, the western corridor and both coasts. Anything further out we quote case by case.

Are you licensed?

QBCC licence 1109935, and fully insured. The licence number is on every quote and can be checked on the QBCC register.
