Most failed overlays are not overlay failures. They are repairs that were never done, or done with the wrong material, and the fault has simply reappeared through the new surface within a season.
We cut cracks out to a clean profile rather than smearing filler across the top, fill with a flexible repair mortar, and bridge anything still likely to move with a reinforcing membrane before the finish goes on. Spalled edges get rebuilt and re-profiled. Perished expansion joints get cut out and replaced instead of being coated over.
Repairs can be the whole job, or the first day of a resurfacing job. Either way you get told which cracks are cosmetic and which are structural, because those two answers lead to very different quotes.

01 — Grind and test
Diamond grind back to sound concrete, then moisture and bond test. If the slab fails, you get told before you pay for an overlay that will lift.
02 — Repair and prime
Cracks cut, filled and bridged. Falls corrected so water leaves the slab instead of sitting on it. Primer coat the same day.
03 — Lay the finish
Overlay, stencil, aggregate or flake, laid to the build-up quoted. One crew, no subcontracted finishers.
04 — Seal and cure
Two coats of UV-stable sealer. Foot traffic at 24 hours, vehicles at 72 on most finishes.
The questions we get asked
Will the crack come back?
A cosmetic crack that is cut, filled and bridged usually stays gone. A structural crack in a slab that is still moving will keep moving — no surface treatment changes that, and we will say so.
Can you match a patch to the existing surface?
On plain and coloured finishes, close. On weathered exposed aggregate, a patch will always read slightly differently — resurfacing the whole area is the cleaner result.

Are you licensed?
QBCC licence 1109935, and fully insured. The licence number is on every quote and can be checked on the QBCC register.
