Concrete garden edging

In short

Extruded concrete garden edging is laid as one continuous kerb rather than separate blocks, so there are no joints for grass to invade and nothing to lift out of line. It follows curves as readily as straights, takes the same oxide colour as a driveway overlay, and most residential runs are set out, extruded, jointed and cleaned up in a day.

Detail

Concrete garden edging in South East Queensland

Continuous extruded edging — one unbroken kerb that holds mulch in and lawn out, curved to whatever line the garden takes.

Extruded edging is laid in one continuous run rather than as separate blocks, so there are no joints for couch grass to run through and nothing to lift out of line over time. It follows curves as easily as straights, which is where it beats pavers and treated pine.

Colour and profile are chosen to sit with the driveway rather than compete with it — the same oxide used in a coloured overlay can go through the edging, so the two read as one job.

It is a fast job: most residential runs are set out, extruded, jointed and cleaned up in a day, and the garden goes back in behind it the same week.

  • Continuous extruded kerb, no butt joints for grass to invade
  • Curved, straight and stepped runs
  • Oxide colour matched to driveway or overlay
  • Control joints cut to prevent random cracking
  • Sealed on request for colour longevity

Recent work

Photographed on our own jobs.

Every photo on this site is a slab we prepared and finished ourselves. No stock library, no supplier brochures.

Method

Four days, in the same order, every job.

Preparation is most of the work and all of the warranty. The decorative part is the last day.

01 — Grind and test

Diamond grind back to sound concrete, then moisture and bond test. If the slab fails, you get told before you pay for an overlay that will lift.

02 — Repair and prime

Cracks cut, filled and bridged. Falls corrected so water leaves the slab instead of sitting on it. Primer coat the same day.

03 — Lay the finish

Overlay, stencil, aggregate or flake, laid to the build-up quoted. One crew, no subcontracted finishers.

04 — Seal and cure

Two coats of UV-stable sealer. Foot traffic at 24 hours, vehicles at 72 on most finishes.

Questions

The questions we get asked

Does edging crack?

Control joints are cut at regular intervals so movement is taken at the joint. Without joints, extruded edging cracks randomly — with them, it stays straight.

Can you edge around an existing driveway?

Yes, and it is a good way to tie a resurfaced driveway into the garden without touching the slab itself.

Which suburbs do you cover?

Brisbane, Ipswich, Logan, Redlands, the western corridor and both coasts. Anything further out we quote case by case.

Are you licensed?

QBCC licence 1109935, and fully insured. The licence number is on every quote and can be checked on the QBCC register.
