We build concrete sleeper, block and poured retaining walls with the drainage that decides whether they still hold ground in ten years: agricultural drain, filter fabric, free-draining backfill and outlets that go somewhere. Walls above roughly one metre, or surcharged by a driveway, structure or pool, are built to an engineered design.
Concrete retaining walls in South East Queensland
Retaining walls built to hold ground, with the drainage behind them that decides whether they still hold it in ten years.
Most retaining wall failures are drainage failures. Water builds up behind the wall, the load doubles, and something gives. We build with agricultural drain, free-draining backfill and outlets that actually go somewhere.
Wall type follows the site: concrete sleeper walls into galvanised posts for straight runs and level changes, block walls where the wall is also a feature, and poured walls where the geometry is awkward. Anything over a metre, or surcharged by a driveway, structure or pool, gets engineering.
Walls are usually part of a larger job — a level change beside a new driveway, a cut for a shed slab, a pool surround that needs a metre of fall taken out. Doing both means the wall, the drainage and the slab are set out together.
- Concrete sleeper, block and poured walls
- Agricultural drainage, filter fabric and free-draining backfill
- Engineered design and certification where required
- Stepped and curved runs to suit the site
- Coordinated with slab, driveway and excavation works

Photographed on our own jobs.
Every photo on this site is a slab we prepared and finished ourselves. No stock library, no supplier brochures.
Four days, in the same order, every job.
Preparation is most of the work and all of the warranty. The decorative part is the last day.
01 — Grind and test
Diamond grind back to sound concrete, then moisture and bond test. If the slab fails, you get told before you pay for an overlay that will lift.
02 — Repair and prime
Cracks cut, filled and bridged. Falls corrected so water leaves the slab instead of sitting on it. Primer coat the same day.
03 — Lay the finish
Overlay, stencil, aggregate or flake, laid to the build-up quoted. One crew, no subcontracted finishers.
04 — Seal and cure
Two coats of UV-stable sealer. Foot traffic at 24 hours, vehicles at 72 on most finishes.
The questions we get asked
When does a wall need engineering?
Generally above one metre, or lower if it is surcharged by a driveway, building or pool. We arrange it rather than guessing.
Can the wall match the driveway finish?
Block and poured walls can be rendered and coated in the same colour system as an overlay, which ties the whole area together.
Which suburbs do you cover?
Brisbane, Ipswich, Logan, Redlands, the western corridor and both coasts. Anything further out we quote case by case.
Are you licensed?
QBCC licence 1109935, and fully insured. The licence number is on every quote and can be checked on the QBCC register.
