What the slabs are like in Sunnybank
Area is the defining factor. A wide slab moves more than a narrow one, which makes control joints the difference between a surface that ages well and one that maps its own cracks in the first summer. On a double driveway we set joints out deliberately and carry existing joints through the new surface rather than covering them.
The original coatings are the labour. First-generation spray-on finishes chalk and lose adhesion in patches, and laying new material over them means the new surface is only as attached as the old failure underneath. Everything comes back to sound concrete first.

Can you lay a new finish over the old spray-on coating?
No. It has failed in patches, so anything over it is only as attached as the failure beneath. Removal is most of the labour.
Why do you need joints in the driveway?
Because a slab this wide will move. Joints decide where. Without them the concrete chooses its own crack lines.
Water pools near the garage. Will resurfacing fix it?
No. Ponding is a fall problem and a new surface shows it faster. We assess drainage before quoting a finish.
